How to Wash Microfiber Towels

How to Wash Microfiber Towels

Microfiber towels are amazing for cleaning, but only if you treat them right. The way you wash and dry them has a huge impact on how long they last and how well they perform.

Thankfully, it’s easy to keep your microfiber in top condition with a few simple guidelines. Let’s walk through the do’s and don’ts of washing microfiber towels so they stay lint-free, super absorbent, and effective for the long haul.

Rule #1: Wash Microfiber Separately

Only wash microfiber with other microfiber.

Mixing microfiber towels with cotton or other fabrics is a quick way to ruin them.

Why? Because microfiber is designed to attract and trap lint, which means it’ll grab onto every bit of fuzz from your cotton items. Once it does, that lint is nearly impossible to remove.

Bottom line: Keep your microfiber in its own laundry load; no cotton, no fluff, no regrets.

Rule #2: Skip the Fabric Softeners

Fabric softener is microfiber’s worst enemy.

It clogs the microscopic fibers that make microfiber so absorbent, which means your towels will stop soaking up liquids and just start pushing them around. Most people don’t realize many common laundry detergents include softeners or optical brighteners, even the ones that don’t say “softener” on the label.

To be safe, we recommend using Free & Clear Microfiber Detergent. It’s specially formulated for microfiber: no softeners, no brighteners, no scent, just clean.

Rule #3: Avoid High Heat When Drying

Air drying is best, but low or no heat works too.

High heat can damage the fibers in microfiber towels, reducing their effectiveness and lifespan. If you can, hang them to dry, they’ll dry surprisingly fast. But if you need to use a dryer, choose a low or no heat setting.

Microfiber dries much quicker than cotton, so even on low heat, they won’t take long.

Keep Your Towels Working Like New

That’s it! Just three simple rules, and your microfiber towels will stay in great shape for years.

A little extra care in the laundry room goes a long way in keeping your towels super absorbent, lint-free, and ready for your next big clean.
