We asked our friends at Cleaning Management Institute to write a few words about what they do and who they do it for. Their training programs are something we believe in so we thought we’d pass their information on to you:
Cleaning Management Institute, CMI, is a professional society established in 1964 to provide education, training and career improvement opportunities for building cleaning and maintenance professionals.
CMI is a member organization offering discounts on a wide range of training and education products, a free subscription to Cleaning & Maintenance Management magazine, a Members Only monthly e-Newsletter and numerous networking opportunities through our partner organizations, like IEHA and The Green Business Bureau One of CMI’s center piece courses is the Train the Trainer course. The course is held through the United States during the course of a year. Train the Trainer has seen hundreds of attendees successfully complete the three-day course, which covers the curriculum in the Custodial Technician Training programs and includes topics such as: the chemistry of cleaning, above floor cleaning, cleaning and maintaining carpeted and hard floor surfaces, restroom care and more. Attendees have diverse backgrounds; we have seen individuals from front-line cleaners to corporate chief executive officers (CEOs). Though the majority of attendees have years of relevant industry experience, a handful have made it through with little to no experience. The Custodial Technician Training and Certification Program was developed by CMI more than 20 years ago and has been helping cleaning operations adopt best-practices ever since. The program is designed for front-line custodians and teaches basic and advanced skills in all areas of commercial building cleaning.
